Mimmo Paladino is an Italian painter, sculptor and engraver. He is one of the leading members of the Transavanguardia movement founded and theorized by Achille Bonito Oliva in 1980. Among his recent works: a group of sculptures shown en plein air in Orta San Giulio (Lake of Orta) in a show curated by Flavio Arensi, a horse floating to the shore in front of Villa Bossi, the Town Hall and a big blue horse over four metres high at the Amphitheatre of Vittoriale degli Italiani di Gardone Riviera (Brescia), housemuseum of the novelist Gabriele D’Annunzio. He is also interested in the relationship between visual art and sound and has worked with the sound artist Brian Eno on the installation I Dormienti for the Roundhouse, London in 1999 and on a piece for the Ara Pacis Museum in Rome in 2008. His works are permanently located in some of the major international museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
