Milky Way

Alessandro Mendini takes us into his fantasy world. In the centre of the carpet is a large church with a high bell tower and a solid portal; in the background are mosques, Stars of David, other churches and then men and women in love, stars, flowers, two naked angelic women and phrases and words that hold us up as if they were a web of thoughts as we fly with our carpet over a world that we can no longer recognise as real or fantastic. Labyrinthe, Enigme, Ironie, Les surprises, Les animaux, Eau, Jouer, are some of the words written on this carpet that form the warp and, together with the drawings, the weft. A small plane, a toy plane stands in the middle and seems to fly through it. Now, it is passing near the top of the bell tower, where the design of an ant decorates the top of the large tower. Above, a starry sky with fireworks and then rain and then snow.
